Forever grateful to Instagram Queen Tsouni @yesitsallvegan (that’s her actual surname) for all of her amazing food recommendations.
Honestly, if you’re a Vegan with an Instagram account but don’t follow her then are you even a Vegan with an Instagram account? She is the greatest.
This weekend I visited Bodega 50 on Tsouni’s recommendation. It’s a small but perfectly formed veggie cafe on a leafy side street in Stoke Newington and they have the best green juice I’ve ever tried.
This weekend saw the World Cup Final of Beer hosted by Street Feast at Hawker House.
Ten English Beers vs. Ten German Beers. Forty long years since England last won the World Cup, will our years of hurt finally be over?
We tried the ten English beers (in cute lil’ 1/5 of a pint cups) as we only had time to try one lot and the queue was shorter at the England bar. It was so nice to be able to try some new beers and find a few that I loved and one that was very questionable that I now know to avoid forever. Shout out to Barnivore for helping us to make sure we were only drinking the Vegan ones.
Street Feast’s big slogan for the weekend is “Eat. Meat. Bier. Repeat.” – Ew. Thank fuck for Club Mexicana. View Post
Hey, Pals! Oh boy am I berating myself for not taking these pictures on my camera. Sometimes it’s just such a faff to get my camera out and iPhone pics always look fine enough on my phone but when I transfer them to hear I’m like gross. But I just love What I Ate In A Day posts and I really hope they give you some ideas of what you could have for dinner or something new to try etc. so here we are! Let’s deal. We can get through it together.
Last Friday I made this humungous Burrito Bowl featuring white rice cooked in turmeric, black beans cooked in garlic butter (I know), half a Fry’s Family chikn schnitzel smothered in Violife pizza cheese, sweetcorn, courgette, gem lettuce, avocado, tomato and tofu bacon crumbles. I didn’t manage to finish it, but my god did I try my best. TOFU BACON CRUMBLES ON EVERYTHING, PLEASE! View Post
The concept of a cheeseless pizza used to really upset me. My Husband has never liked cheese so whenever we had pizza order it without cheese and I always used to think he was missing out, that his meal was sub-par and I thought that he was taking one for the team so that I could enjoy an oozing slice (ew). I thought that in order for pizza to BE pizza it had to have cheese.
Then I went Vegan.
One of the first things that I tried after “The Big Event” was a cheeseless pizza. It was a homemade base with some of my favourite toppings – spicy, tangy pickled jalapenos, sweet n juicy pineapple chunks and generous chunks of fresh tomatoes sprinkled on top. I remember exclaiming “THIS TASTES JUST LIKE PIZZA!!”
It turned out I was wrong all along. That pizza was in fact the friends we made along the way and that cheese doesn’t matter!
From my very first bite of cheeseless pizza I was sold. I was a
Belieber believer. Do I miss cheese? No I fucking don’t mate.
Although. I have become a fan of Vegan cheese along the way. It took me a while to get into it but I am so glad I persevered through a long stretch of being on the verge of giving up. I tried some brands and styles that I hadn’t done before and slowly and surely I found which Vegan cheeses I liked. Which ones went with what. Which ones melted the best (Violife Pizza Cheese). And so on. View Post
Last week I wrote about the hints from Club Mexicana that something new was on the way and all has now been revealed!
Club Mexicana’s new venture is here and it’s some totally banging salads (and some totally awesome and colourful design work to go alongside them)!
