This weekend saw the World Cup Final of Beer hosted by Street Feast at Hawker House.
Ten English Beers vs. Ten German Beers. Forty long years since England last won the World Cup, will our years of hurt finally be over?
We tried the ten English beers (in cute lil’ 1/5 of a pint cups) as we only had time to try one lot and the queue was shorter at the England bar. It was so nice to be able to try some new beers and find a few that I loved and one that was very questionable that I now know to avoid forever. Shout out to Barnivore for helping us to make sure we were only drinking the Vegan ones.
Street Feast’s big slogan for the weekend is “Eat. Meat. Bier. Repeat.” – Ew. Thank fuck for Club Mexicana.
The event was held at Street Feast’s Hawker House branch over at Canada Water (near the Docklands), which is a massive warehouse with tonnes of food trucks and booze stands, communal seating, a small outside area and a trampoline (there is genuinely a trampoline for those guests under 12 years old).
Because the event was German themed, Club Mexicana’s Menu was slightly different than the menu we have come to know and love.
They were offering Burritos, Tacos and Nachos with BBQ Pulled Jackfruit, home-made sauerkraut, jalapeno mustard, fresh dill, shredded red cabbage, sauer cream, pickled chillies, rice (in the burrito only), beans and cheese sauce.
To go along with our ridiculous amount of beer, we shared a portion of tacos and a portion of nachos.
The tacos were absolutely delicious – exactly what we’ve come to expect from CM.
The nachos, however, were SO good that I lost the ability to speak. They were SO good that I had to do everything I could to not openly weep right there on the spot. Thinking about them now is making me tear up a bit.
I think my favourite part was the Jalapeño Mustard. What an absolutely wonderful concept and so perfectly executed.
Club Mexicana are the Beyoncé of food.
Sad you missed out on the Bavarian Menu? Make sure you’re following Club Mexicana on all their Social Medias so you know what they’re up to –
