It still hasn’t sunk in that from today we will be able to get Club Mexicana 7 days a week, 364 days a year. The greatest Street Food Vendor in existence, famous for their BBQ Pulled Jackfruit Burritos and their To-fish Tacos SEVEN DAYS A WEEK just a 10 minute bus ride from my flat. Life is good.
We have KERB to thank for this. They already run four other amazing locations across London (Kings Cross, Gherkin, West India Quay, Paddington) and now they have taken over the famous Camden Market. The market will be open Monday to Thursday 11am to 6pm, Friday & Saturday 11am to 10pm and on Sunday 11am to 7pm. That’s a whole lotta Club Mexicana (and yet somehow I still want more).
I was so excited to be invited to the soft launch as a little Vegan meet up to chat to some of the people I’d made online friends with and bond over our shared love of Club Mexicana. There aren’t enough words in the world to say how much I loved my first Vegan meet up! It was so nice to meet the people who I’ve been chatting to online for ages and everyone was so bloomin’ nice! In the picture above is Amazing Ava (that’s her full name and yes I fangirled her), part of Team Club Mexicana and writer of my fave blog Guac & Roll, with Floyd the Wonder Pooch. A massive thanks to Ava and Team CM for inviting me!!
It’s no secret that Club Mexicana is my number one favourite place to eat. Everything they do, they do perfectly. Just look at those tofish tacos with their crispy, crunchy batter, that herbaceous deep green chimichurri (can I please eat this as a soup?), pink pickled onions, salted red chillies, house-made sour cream, fresh coriander and toasted warm soft taco shells.
The Club Mexicana menu at KERB Camden will comprise of Jackfruit Burritos, Tofish Tacos and Fully Loaded Nachos and I highly suggest you get one of each.
Pineapples, plants, neon signs, hot pink, monochrome and light grey. I love how fucking chic the Club Mexicana stand is. I want to Pin and Instagram it ALL DAY LONG (7 days a week, 364 days a year!). And look at how amazing the sign is!! 100% VEGAN in the biggest font this side of the Hollywood sign! That’s right, ROLL UP! ROLL UP! Come and get your 100% Vegan Burritos, Tacos and Nachos, babies! VEGAN AND PROUD!
It was such a happy carnival like party vibe at the market and the setting is so pretty, overlooking the canal, massive weeping willow tree overhead. It didn’t feel like we were in the middle of bustling Camden at all. KERB have really knocked it out of the park with their latest offering and Club Mexicana’s presence has made Camden an even bigger lure for Vegans all over the world.
Petra Barran, founder of KERB says “We’re so excited to finally be able to open KERB Camden Market to the public. A huge amount of planning has gone into making this, KERB’s biggest market to date, such a huge step forward for London street food. We can’t wait to see how the public reacts to the massive raft of brilliant menus here – as well as the KERB bar that will showcase independent breweries from across the capital, just like we do with our food traders”.
Other Vegan options on offer at KERB Camden Market include bean-wa chilli and corn bread from Louisiana Chilli Shack, plantain chips and curry from Maize Blaze and curries from Sonita’s Kitchen. Find a list of all traders here.
By the end of the night I was as (vegan) cream crackered as my new friend Floyd; the excitement and buzz of the new market, meeting new amazing people and eating really excellent food can really take it out of a girl. I had pretty much fallen asleep at our table before I decided it was time to reluctantly go home; I just wanted to stay there all night to bask in the glow of all the amazing new people I met tbh. What a fantastic evening and it still hasn’t sunk in that I can get a Jackfruit Burrito 364 days a year!!
