Part 2 of my Eating Vegan in Paris round-up is Gentle Gourmet in Bastille.
A restaurant which manages to be really fancy yet casual, relaxed & welcoming. They’re pretty well known for their desserts so it’s a shame our tummies didn’t stretch that far on this visit but we’ll definitely save room for them next time!
The menu was so diverse in the different cuisines on offer from dish to dish and further still they had several different specials every day.
This is the “Famous”, It’s a Portobello Mushroom Burger with candied onion and Hollandaise style sauce. (20 euros)
This dish is called “Garden” and it’s scrambled tofu wrapped in leek and black garlic foam served on a bed of grains. (23 euros)
This incredible thing was one of the specials of the day, the Mille Fueille. Layers of melt in your mouth short crust pastry, mushrooms, spinach, and a sun-dried tomato cashew creme.
This beautiful dish is called “Dashi” which is a Dashi bouillon, rice tagliatelle, shiitake & enokitake mushrooms, ginger and carrot. (24 euros)
This is the cloudy lemonade with a hint of mint. Very refreshing. I’ve been trying to track a stockist in London ever since I got home!
Find Gentle Gourmet at 24 Boulevard de la Bastille, 75012 Paris, France.
JARDIN DES PLANTES
Gentle Gourmet is a 10 minute walk away from the Jardin des Plantes which might just be the one of the most beautiful places in the world, I would highly recommend going for a stroll after your meal!
JDP is the main botanical garden of Paris and home to four museums (Entomotology, Paleontology, L’Evolution, Mineralagy), a Botanical School, three palm houses, a rose garden, an alpine garden, a carousel, bunch of parakeets and the largest blossom tree I have ever seen in my life.
