I’ve never really felt like I’ve been part of something, like a movement or a team. I don’t go to any book clubs, I’m not in a band and I’m not part of any sports teams (these are the only three options, right?). But then, at the beginning of last year, I went Vegan.
I’ve surrounded myself with likeminded people; people whose beliefs align with mine, people who share recipes, tips, new products, cute pictures of animals, people who are striving to make the world a better place. It’s Squad Goals.
When you’re a Vegan you want to talk about Veganism. Especially when you first go Vegan – you’ve just been exposed to a lot of new information (at least this was my path) and you’re going to want to talk about it. It’s a lot to process on your own.
Find other Vegan’s on social media, search the Vegan hashtag, search #VeganLondon or #VeganEdinburgh or #VeganYourCity. There are a few designated time slots per week for Vegan chats on Twitter which is a great way to drum up some conversations – @VeganChatRoom is my favourite. You could even make friends in the comments section of a Vegan YouTube video!
The Vegan Community is a wonderful place. Everyone is on the same page; you won’t find a more accepting, kind, welcoming group of people. I’m so happy and grateful for all of the friends that I’ve made since becoming Vegan and I really feel like I’m finally part of something.
